Westlife singer Kian Egan has claimed that the Spice Girls are afraid over a chart battle with his band.
New albums from the Spice Girls and Westlife were originally due to be released on November 5, but the Spice Girls have now pushed back their Greatest Hits album one week.
Kian told the Mirror, "We would take great pleasure in beating the Spice Girls - especially Mel C because every time she opens her mouth something mean comes out.”
"As far as we were concerned, we were going up against them and we were up for it. But then they suddenly changed their minds. They're running scared."
Mel C has hit back saying, “I personally don't like Westlife. We've just sold out 17 nights at the 02 centre…we've got nothing to prove!"
The Spice Girls insist that their album was never intended to be released on November 5, reports IOL.
The last time both groups released albums at the same time Westlife outsold the Spice Girls.
According to The Sun, Michael Jackson has agreed to make a guest appearance on The X Factor.
Apparently the singer will give advice to contestants and comment on their performance.
An insider said, "We've got some huge names but Michael Jackson really is a sensational signing. He is a truly global, worldwide superstar. And this will be his first TV appearance in Britain since the Martin Bashir interview. Given his background with ITV, it's even more astonishing that he agreed to do it."
Jackson has not appeared on UK television since he was interviewed by Martin Bashir for ITV1 documentary Living With Michael Jackson, which aired in 2003. The film was one factor which led to Jackson's trial for child molestation in 2005.
Girls Aloud, Celine Dion, Rihanna, Kylie, Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis, Westlife and Mariah Carey will also be making appearances according to the report. Source
The Spice Girls and Westlife are set to battle for the number one spot on the UK album chart.
The reformed Spice Girls Greatest Hits album and Back Home by Westlife are due to be released on November 5.
In 2002 Westlife's album Coast To Coast topped the UK album chart and sold 234,000 copies compared to Forever by Spice Girls' which managed to shift 74,000 copies.
However, it is rumoured that the Spice Girls are considering delaying their album's release until November 12 to avoid a chart battle with the Irish boyband.
A Westlife insider told DS, "The boys can't wait to take their album up against the Spice Girls - they are definitely going to enjoy this and would be absolutely gutted if the girls moved…"
Sharon Osbourne has recruited Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger for her X Factor team, according to a report.
The 54-year-old is the only original judge who has not yet won the X Factor, and hopes that Nicole will help her to guide a contestant to victory.
As usual, Simon Cowell is being assisted by 80s pop star Sinitta, while Louis Walsh has decided to work with Westlife star Kian Egan again. New judge Dannii Minogue has called in music producer Terry Roland to join her team.
An insider told the Daily Star Sunday, "Getting Nicole on her team is a big boost for Sharon. Not only is she the lead singer in the most successful girl band around - but she is also extremely sexy. Sharon knows she can't compete with Dannii in the sex appeal stakes herself - so she has brought in someone who can." Source
