Eve & Penn Just Friends

Rapper Eve says that there is nothing going on between her and actor Sean Penn. Tongues started wagging when Penn showed up in the middle of the night to "see how Eve was doing" when she got arrsted for DUI late last month.

SOHH.com talked to Eve exclusively, and she revealed, "There's no craziness going on. I've known him for years. We got mutual friends. He saw what was happening and he just wanted to make sure I was cool."

It is believed that Penn offered to bail Eve out of jail, for $30,000, but she declined and was apparently "surprised" by Penn's visit.

Sean Penn Bails Out Eve

Rapper/actress Eve was taken to the police station on suspicion of driving under the influence on Thursday.

But when actor Sean Penn found out he went to bail her out.

A source close to Eve told Usmagazine.com, "Sean and Eve have been friends for two years or so. They met out and about. When Sean heard Eve was arrested, he immediately ran down to the police station as a friend to bail her out.”

“Eve totally didn't expect it. Eve said, ‘What? Why is Sean here?’”

“Sean decided to leave immediately, saying, ‘Let me get out of here before [the paparazzi] make this into something it's not,’” adds the source. “Eve was grateful but didn't need Sean's help."

Eve [born Eve Jeffers] was booked on misdemeanor drunken driving, posted $30,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court May 17.
