X Factor's Hero Tops Chart

A charity single recorded by this year's X Factor finalists has debuted at number one on the UK singles chart.

'Hero', a cover of Mariah Carey's 1993 hit, sold 313,244 copies last week to become the fastest-selling single of 2008.

Proceeds from the single go to Help For Heroes, a charity that supports wounded servicemen and women, and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Peter Kay Beats Leon Jackson

Leon Jackson - who won the X Factor last year - made his long awaited comeback with new single 'Don't Call This Love' which managed to reach #3 in the UK Singles Chart. But Pink was at #1 for a third week with So What.

But the big news of the week was that Leon Jackson was beaten by Peter Kay/Geraldine in the charts. Peter Kay appeared as Geraldine in Britain's Got The Pop Factor... which was a spoof of reality shows.

Pink is still at #1 in the UK Singles Charts with So What.

American Boy by Estelle featuring Kanye West has managed to top the UK singles chart.
This is the first chart-topper for the mega-talented Estelle. Love her new look too!

Chart Watch: Sean Kingston Is #1

Sean Kingston moved up one place this week with Beautiful Girls to top the Official UK Singles Chart. Kanye slipped down one position to #2 with Stronger.

Chart Watch: No Change @ The Top

Timbaland is at #1 for the second week running with 'The Way I Are' featuring Keri Hilson in the Singles Charts. Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts has managed three weeks at the top of the Album Charts with his debut album One Chance.

Chart Watch: Timbaland Ends Rihanna's Reign

After a cool ten weeks at #1, Rihanna has been knocked off the top spot. The rain has also died down and it sunny outside! 'The Way I Are' by Timbaland ft Keri Hilson climbed up two places this week to become Britain's best selling single of the week.

'Foundations' by Kate Nash is a non-mover at #2, 'Umbrella' is at #3 followed by Fergie's 'Big Girls Don't Cry' and Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song) by Enrique Iglesias completes the top 5.

Rihanna's latest single 'Shut Up And Drive' made it's way up the charts to get to #18. The Simpsons theme by Green Day also made it into the top 20 at #19.

Paul Potts is still #1 in the Album Charts with 'One Chance'.

Maroon 5 have gone straight to the top of the Official UK Album Charts with their latest album 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long.' However the band couldn't manage a double as their single 'Makes Me Wonder' is in second postion of the Single Charts. Rihanna still reigns supreme in the Singles Chart with 'Umbrella' at #1 for the second week in a row.

New entries in the Album Chart included 'Trip The Light Fantastic' by Sophie Ellis Bextor at #7 & Ozzy Osbourne's 'Black Rain' at #8.

There were no new entries in the Singles Chart Top 10, however former Sugababe Mutya Buena moved two places up to reach #9 with her single 'Real Girl.'

Rihanna Hits The Top Spot

'Good Girl Gone Bad' Rihanna is straight at the top spot with Umbrella this week. Former Sugababe Mutya Buena just misses this weeks Top 10, as 'Real Girl' is at #11. McFly have gone all the way down from #1 last week, to #20 this week with 'Baby's Coming Back/Transylvania.' Despite a poor finishing at Eurovision, Scooch are at #8 this week with 'Flying The Flag (For You).' Linkin Park managed to top the Album Charts this week with Minutes To Midnight.'

Mika has claimed the #1 spot in the Singles Chart for the third week with 'Grace Kelly'
Not Too Late by Norah Jones has become the 800th album to reach #1 in the Album Charts in the UK.

The Daily Mirror reports that Kylie Minogue's ex, Olivier Martinez has been pictured hugging Penelope Cruz.

Friends and family of the singer were shocked to see him with Cruz, 32, just 12 hours after his split with Kylie was officially announced.

A friend of Kylie's said "This will devestate her"

In the ratings war Big Brother pulled in 7.3million viewers, while Richard Hammond’s high-speed dragster crash on Top Gear peaked at at 8.6million.

The unofficial overnight figures mean CBB had a 20.9% of viewers and Top Gear 27.8%.


Mika is a non-mover as he still #1 with Grace Kelly in the Singles Charts.

Meanwhile in the Album Charts, Scottish rock band The View have made it to the top spot. The Good The Bad The Queen were at #2 with their self titled album.

Mika made it to the #1 spot of the Singles Chart with his song Grace Kelly as he knocked X Factor winner Leona Lewis off the top spot. Her song A Moment Like This was this weeks #6.

Meanwhile Billie Piper made a return to the charts when Honey To The Bee entered in at #17, after Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles spent the week asking his listeners to download the track.

Changes to chart now allow songs that are available only on downloads to be included in the charts. This means that album tracks and old songs can also be featured in the charts.

Amy Winehouse is still on top of the Album Charts with Back To Black and Lilly Allens BRIT nominations helped her album Alright Still to rise from #13 to #6.

The BBC reports that pop star Kylie Minogue has announced new dates for two concerts whih were cancelled after she fell ill. On Saturday, Kylie stopped a concert at the MEN Arena in Manchester after an hour, telling fans she had a cold. Shows on Monday and Tuesday were called off on doctors' orders. The concerts have now been rescheduled for Sunday 21 January and Monday 22 January.


According to various reports former Miss World and leading Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and fellow star Abhishek Bachchan are engaged to be married, it has been confirmed.

Chart Watch: X Factor winner Leona Lewis is still at #1 in the Singles Chart. Proper Education by Eric Prydz Vs Floyd was a non mover at #2.
Amy Winehouse also had a great week in the charts with Rehab at #20 and You Know I'm No Good at #18 in the Singles Chart. Back To Black by Winehouse went up one place to become the best selling albumof the week and claim the #1 spot
