Golden Globes Ceremony Scrapped

The Golden Globes ceremony has been cancelled and replaced with a news conference because of the strike by writers over royalties, reports BBC.

The winners of the US TV and film awards, regarded as second in prestige only to the Oscars, will instead be revealed in a low-key, hour-long news conference next Sunday.

Actors, including George Clooney and Keira Knightley had vowed to boycott the event in support of writers, according to reports. Without top names, networks had threatened not to screen the event.

Jorge Camara of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said, "We are all very disappointed that our traditional awards ceremony will not take place this year and that millions of viewers worldwide will be deprived of seeing many of their favourite stars."

Meanwhile, Oscars organisers say they are confident they will be able to "do the kind of show the public expects of us" on 24 February.

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has been on strike since November over "residuals" - royalties for work distributed online or on DVD.

The dispute has brought to a standstill the production of nearly all TV comedy and drama shows including Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy.

Keira Knightley is being tipped to play Diana, Princess Of Wales in a movie based on the late royal’s life.

Keira Accepts Libel Damages

Keira Knightley has accepted High Court libel damages over a Daily Mail article suggesting that she had an eating disorder.

The actress was also upset with the suggestion that she was responsible for the death of a teenage girl who had been suffering from anorexia.

The article was headed: "If pictures like this one of Keira carried a health warning, my darling daughter might have lived". It was published on January 11, accompanied by a photograph of the 22-year-old actress wearing a bikini on holiday.

Knightley pledged to donate her £3,000 damages to Beat, an eating disorder charity.

Keira Knightley has revealed that she does not "shower enough," as her "natural smell is rather musky.”

According to The Sun, Keira also revealed that she has a fiery temper — especially after a few drinks.

The actress, who is currently in a relationship with English actor Rupert Friend, admitted that she doesn't get on with American men because they are too vain.

Knightley Wants A Life: Will She Quit Actiong?

Actress Keira Knightley has revealed she wants to give up her fame, saying, "I want a life instead."

Speaking to a glossy magazine, Knightley said: "The celebrity thing is completely crazy. I think I just have to move away or give it up altogether."

"I couldn't have kids in the situation I'm in now. But I could just do something else. That's probably what's going to happen. I'm just not so hungry any more. I made a decision very recently that I wanted a life instead."

The 22-year-old also spoke out about fears for her health after being photographed looking very thin in a bikini and said she was "devastated" at being labelled as anorexic.

Knightley said the "physically gruelling" film schedule for Pirates Of The Caribbean had caused her to lose weight.

She added that she is "naturally thin."

Keira Knightley is adored by many for her body, but the actress has Beth Ditto's body in mind.

According to Metro, Knightley revealed, "When she [Beth Ditto] was performing she started taking all her clothes off. I stood there watching her strip, thinking, 'Oh my God, that woman is so sexy.' She has the most amazing body."

Keira said that after the death of a bulimic girl was blamed on her, she went to the doctor and told him she wanted to gain some weight.

Keira Knightley is considering leaving the UK due to fear of of five men who are stalking her.

The actress told the Daily Star, “I’m being stalked by five men. I have no way of knowing if they could be potential rapists."

“It scares the living hell out of me. I’m frightened out of my wits every time I see one of them.”

And an unnamed friend said Knightley was now looking for a home in the USA as a last resort to escape the ordeal.

The pal revealed, “Keira has put up with it for months. But it’s come to a point where she can’t leave the house. She genuinely fears for her life. She’s looking for a home in Los Angeles so she can finally have peace of mind."

Another friend said a move may also help she and her actor boyfriend Rupert Friend get more work.

Knightley Sues Newspaper

Actress Keira Knightley has taken legal action against a newspaper publisher reports the BBC.

The Daily Mail published a photograph of the actress on a beach along with comments about her weight, in an article about a girl who had died of anorexia.

Knightley, 21, claims that the article implies she has been dis honest in denying having any such problems.
